Back to reality

What two weeks I just experienced. I’m going to start by saying that if you ever get the chance to go to Japan, please do. You won’t regret it. You will fall in love with the country and its people.

I had the pleasure, no, the honor of being in this amazing country for two weeks experiencing their culture and seeing the wonders from the new age and the old age.

I will start by saying how organized, respectful and hospitable people the Japanese are. They showed me and my friend so much respect and tried to help us even with us not knowing the language. It was amazing the amount of caring for the other person instead of being focused on themselves.

The scenery is just incredible, from “city-scapes” to natural landscapes the cleanliness and beauty was reflected in their everyday usage items. If you are spiritual, the temples are a must see for you so you can experience the peace and tranquility of these places while you awe in wonder of the statues and architectural design of these buildings.

You can follow my whole story by visiting my tumblr at: http://typefasterjoel.tumblr.com

Now I’m back to reality, back to work and back to getting my goals in the right place; I expect more trips to learn about other cultures around the world and experience it first-person on their country.

Thanks for reading.

The Countdown Begins

Only nine days left for me to start my vacation in beautiful Japan. I’ve got everything ready, from the cameras to the flight entertainment (17 hours!!); from hotels to money exchange.

Two weeks in the island learning and enjoying the culture of Japan and also the home to many of my favorite video games out now. Two weeks of exploring a new territory for me and also practicing some Japanese that i’ve been learning for this trip, こんにちわ!My friend and I are very excited and is definitely a dream come true after one year of planning. It almost feel like I’m still dreaming, but my wallet says otherwise.

So far we’ve planned the following: First week enjoy Tokyo and its wonders. While, there we will be visiting the Tokyo Game Show and see what gaming companies have in store for us for upcoming games and systems. The second week will be “Exploring a bit of Japan”. We will be taking the Hikari train towards Kyoto and visit the Old Imperial City (and the original Nintendo Headquarters :P ) and then possibly take another train down to Osaka, for it’s beautiful surroundings .

Definitely exciting. Can’t wait.

2 More Weeks.

Excitement gets stronger and stronger as the final day arrives and I begin my journey in a completely new country for two weeks. From what I hear, from friends that have visited Japan before, once you go to Japan it seems that you don’t want to return. The culture and the people are so different that you just fell in love with it. I wonder how different it is to cause this emotion and definitely exciting.

However, I’m even more excited that not only will I be able to go visit Japan, but I will be attending the Tokyo Game Show! Will be great watching that I love dearly, which is gaming, and see what the companies have in stored for the community at the Tokyo Game Show. I can’t wait to go so I can post all the picture of the epicness that this will mark in my life.

Zend: You’re on!

Alright, due to recent personal projects I’ve taken the task of learning the popular ZEND Framework for PHP. It has been quite the challenge but I’m finally grasping what needs to be done and how powerful all these frameworks are. I consider myself sometimes old-fashioned when it comes to coding. I like to do everything from scratch, but I realize that frameworks can be really powerful and time-saving in how your project may be. The project will dictate whether to use a framework or not.

This is why I decided to use the ZEND Framework. I want to make my PHP coding even more structured and I think ZEND framework achieves just this. By implementing the MVC over to create websites, you have more control of your content and sometimes even more security when it comes to passing data.

What are your favorite frameworks?

Japan Ready?

With only 3 weeks and 4 days to go, I need to now go under crunch mode for my trip to Japan! Is exciting as well as intimidating! I’m going to a whole new country and experience their culture first hand without the help of any tour guides or anything. I’m going as an explorer to visit the Tokyo area as well as the old Imperial City…Kyoto. It will definitely be a 2 weeks to remember! I will be posting pictures later on, because this trip just mark the first step in many other trips to come around the world. :)

However, I think I better start brushing up my Japanese. I understand that over a good majority of the people speak English, but when you visit a new country you should embrace the culture and language. Just give it a try and you’ll be respected for it. I’m learning some Japanese, but I bet i won’t be good at it. At least I want to know enough to defend me by.

I will be posting pictures of this amazing trip when I come back. Now that everything is ready I can get back to updating all the projects on this site. Thanks for reading!
